ORCA Donations

Do you have a request or suggestion for Team ORCA donations? Our goal is to keep our donations local/community oriented as well as running/health/fitness related. If you have an idea, please send a written request to the ORCA Executive (what/why/details) to Brenda Light at d-light@shaw.ca.

Here are some ways Team ORCA plans to give back to the community:
Bursaries:
Team ORCA will be donating $250 to KSS and $250 to Ballenas schools to a graduating student each year who has participated in Cross Country or distance running events of 800 meters or more. Congratulations to Erin Catherall of Ballenas school for receiving this years award!

Tour de Rock:
A donation of $300 was recently made which will go towards childhood cancer research, support systems for children with, or who have had cancer, and for summer camps for these children. Good Luck to Bryan Lapp and Troy Dobson from our community who will be riding through Qualicum/Parksville on Sep 29th. If you would like to make a personal donation, please contact Bryan Lapp at bryan.lapp@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Island Race Series Sponsorship:
Team ORCA will pay for one full nine race package for one male and one female club member to participate in the Island Series Races of 2006. If you are committed to running most but not necessarily all the Island Series, please send an email to Brenda Light at d-light@shaw.ca. DEADLINE: Thurs Nov 17, 2005. The male and female names will be drawn at the ORCA Executive Meeting on Thurs Nov 17th.

Island Relay Sponsorship:
Team ORCA will cover the Team entry fees for any ORCA Island Relay teams of May 2006 (all participants must be ORCA members with no exceptions). If you would like to be part of this team, or already have a team organized, please email Brenda Light at d-light@shaw.ca.

Cross Country Club:
An amount will be donated to the Oceanside Cross Country club to go towards the kids running events.

Track and Field Club: $1000 donation to go towards the Oceanside Track and Field Club for purchase of equipment and to help needy kids attend track meets.

ORCA Clinics:
Team ORCA will be donating money towards 2006 ORCA clinics. Members will no longer need to pay for these awesome clinics. Stay tuned for more details - more excellent speakers and presenters to come!

Fun Runs:
The ORCA events committee will be organizing various fun runs throughout the year. For example: Run/bar hopping, Run and pizza nights, Halloween run, Christmas run, etc. ORCA will be funding these events.
